Thanksgiving at UUCGV
(Sanctuary, from
Nov 26, 2009 04:00 PM to
Nov 26, 2009 09:00 PM)
-
This is a potluck-style dinner at UUCGV on Thanksgiving Day. Please bring all your friends and family and join with us in a day of celebration. (Because our sink has been having trouble, we are asking that folks bring their own plates/flatware and take it home to wash.) Two free range turkeys will be provided (Jana has a 'chef' for one and is looking for someone to make the other). Beverages, including wine, soft drinks, coffee, and tea will also be provided. We'll have board games and other entertainments set out in the later afternoon. Plan to eat at 6pm. Please coordinate with Jana R (985-8417) so we have a good variety of dishes. We have SO MUCH to be thankful for!

Friday Movie: Pieces of April & Alice's Restaurant
(sanctuary, from
Nov 27, 2009 07:00 PM to
Nov 27, 2009 11:00 PM)
-
In honor of Thanksgiving, we will be showing 2 movies this Friday. Pieces of April: (Rated PG-13 for language, sensuality, drug content and images of nudity) April Burns (Katie Holmes) invites her family to Thanksgiving dinner at her teeny apartment on New York's Lower East Side. As they make their way to the city from suburban Pennsylvania, April must endure a comedy of errors - like finding out her oven doesn't work - in order to pull off the big event.
Alice's Restaurant: (1969 - Not Rated, but contains some nudity and drug usage) Arlo Guthrie's song is converted into a motion picture. Arlo goes to see Alice for Thanksgivng and as a favor takes her trash to the dump. The movie follows the song with Arlo's voice over as both music and narration.
