Groups
There are over a dozen groups meeting at UUCGV -- enough to find at least one that piques your interest. These are social groups, reading and study groups, and fun activities. Click on the links below to learn more -- these are a great way to get to know folks!
- Book Club
- We choose our own books once we finish the one we're reading. It tends to be novels, but we're open to anything people want to read.
- Choir
- UUCGV has three choirs depending on the age of the singer. Our excellent director, Peg O., directs all choirs with practices on Wednesday nights.
- Men's Cooking
- Fellowship and friendship among the UU men of the church - we have a dinner together on the 3rd Thursday of every month. We pick a topic or a location on the globe for culinary inspirations... bring your best or bring some beer! Contact Dave M or Mark McK for information about where to meet and what to bring!
- Welcoming Congregation / Interweave Chapter
- Interweave is a national UU group representing Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender people and their friends and allies. Interweave supercedes the "Welcoming Congregation" initiative which successfully concluded in Spring 2009. Interweave currently meets on the 2nd Sunday of the month after the service, at 12:00pm.
- Short Story Group
- Meets the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings at 7pm in the sanctuary. The group chooses a collection of stories by various authors.
- Relay for Life
- The American Cancer Society sponsors the Relay for Life -- a fund raising walk/run that happens each June.
- Circle Suppers
- Socializing over dinner!
- Chalice Circles
- Closed discussion groups that meet monthly for a year. New Chalice circles form periodically.
- 2nd Saturday Soup Kitchen
- A group of folks join to create, cook, serve and clean up a delicious meal for the Grand Valley's needy folks.
- Black Canyon Adult Religious Education Group
- Group that meets monthly in the Delta/Montrose area
